I remember once a colleague had come as a visiting faculty from another university to our Department. When this person had seen the students of our Department he expressed surprise at how devout our students were. He thought that the students here were preselected on the basis of their devoutness and religiosity, only after which process they were then matriculated into the university. I told him that these students were upright and virtuous people when they got here, but that there was room for improvement in the outward appearance of some of them left, and that improvement came about after their contact with Professor Shahriyārī and Dr. Abbāsī.
